Xiaomi’s first Ultra series has been significantly improved on the Mi 10 Pro, including a 120Hz refresh rate display, 50W wireless charging and a ridiculous 120W wired fast charging.
On the back, Xiaomi will bring a periscope module with a large 48MP sensor and 120x digital zoom, plus a larger 48MP main shooter, a shorter telephoto unit and a 13mm ultra-wide camera, which is also the most mobile phone Wide camera.
The Mi 10 Ultra is built around a flexible 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display with 10-bit color output. The aforementioned 120Hz refresh rate is accompanied by 240Hz touch sampling, which can achieve buttery smooth operation. The aspect ratio of the HDR 10+ panel is 19.5:9, which can reach a peak brightness of 800nit.
In the upper left corner is a 20MP selfie shooter, as well as an improved in-display fingerprint reader and stereo speakers.
Going back, we find that there are large camera bumps that hold some impressive hardware. The main shooter has a 1 / 1.32 inch 48MP sensor and an F / 1.85 lens with OIS. What remains stable is the 1/2.0-inch 48MP F/4.1 periscope, which can bring 5x optical zoom and 120x hybrid zoom. Both the main cam and telephoto cam also support 8K video recording.
The remaining two shooters are a 20MP ultra-wide-angle capturer with a focal length of 13mm, and the second 12MP telephoto lens has an optical zoom of 2x.
Under the hood, Mi 10 Ultra has chosen a Snapdragon 865 with 8, 12 or 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256/512 GB UFS 3.1 storage.
Xiaomi also brought a LiquidCool 2.0 vapor chamber and a combination of six stacked graphite layers to ensure the best thermal management. Due to its super fast charging speed, cooling is also important for Mi 10 Ultra.
Once the mobile phone comes out, the accompanying 120W Mi Turbo Charge will be the fastest commercial solution. Xiaomi claims that it can charge a 4500 mAh battery in just 20 minutes. The battery itself is advertised as a graphene-based lithium-ion battery, which is another pioneering product of Xiaomi. But what will happen to these quick recharges over time? Xiaomi promises that Mi 10 Ultra will still have at least 90% capacity after 800 charging cycles.
Wireless charging on Ultra is no easy task, because it can speed up to 50W. This is also the fastest at startup and can be fully charged from 0% in 40 minutes. However, you need to purchase a compatible wireless charger to achieve these speeds. The phone also supports 10W reverse wireless charging. MIUI 12 above Android 10 covers the software aspect.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will provide obsidian black, mercury silver, and all ceramic back panels. However, the real gem is the limited transparent edition.
The basic version of 8GB / 128GB is priced at 5299 yuan (US$760). The price of the 8/256GB version is RMB 5599 (USD 805), the price of the 12/256GB version is RMB 5,999 (USD 865), and the top 16/512GB trim is priced at RMB 6,999 (USD 1,005). Sales in China will start on August 16.
International services have not been made publicly available, but we hope that Xiaomi can organize a separate event as soon as possible.
