Islamabad: The utility company has issued another tender to purchase 40,000 tons of sugar from a local sugar factory under the Prime Minister’s package plan.
Utility Stores Corporation has requested a sealed bid before March 16. Bids will be opened on March 16 (Tuesday) in the presence of bidders or their representatives.
Earlier, the corporation had decided to buy 20,000 tons of sugar under the last tender. Sugar Mills had bid at Rs 92 per kg. Utility stores had imported sugar at Rs 82 per kg.
In the last 6 months, 2 separate tenders of 40,000 and 35,000 tons of sugar were issued and the utility stores have canceled 5 tenders of 180,000 tons in total.
Only 4,000 tons of sugar were purchased in one tender. According to the recent tender, a bid to purchase 20,000 tons of sugar was accepted. In addition, 50,000 tons of imported sugar will be supplied to utility stores.
