US is wrong to think India will contain China: PM Imran Khan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Pakistan wants the United States to take action even in South Asia. The United States believes that India will contain China, but this is a completely flawed premise. India poses a threat to neighboring countries including China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

He expressed these views in an interview with a German news media on Friday.

When talking about the coronavirus, he said that nearly half of Pakistan’s population earn a living on a daily or weekly salary, which is why we adopt a smart lock-in strategy. He added that we kept the agricultural sector open and quickly reopened the construction sector because it employs the most people in the city.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan conducts about 180,000 to 200,000 coronavirus tests every week, and the National Coordination Team is closely monitoring the situation.

When asked about the upcoming U.S. election, Imran Khan said that Joe Biden seemed to be favored in the polls, but he did not consider Donald Trump. Excluded, because of his uncertainty, anything could happen.

He said that we hope the United States will give equal treatment to India, especially the Kashmir dispute. He said that if the United States believes that India will contain China in the region, it would be an unwise choice. India is the most extremist and racist government in the subcontinent, posing a threat to its neighbors. Khan said that this is a fascist country inspired by the Nazis.

Regarding Pakistan’s participation in the war on terrorism, the Prime Minister stated that Pakistan had nothing to do with the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but due to pressure from the United States, Musharraf failed to deal with Pakistan and Pakistan was pushed into the war.

When talking about the US Taliban peace talks and Pakistan’s key role in it, Imran Khan said that after Afghanistan, the country that needs peace most is Pakistan. It lost 70,000 people in the conflict, its tribal areas were destroyed, and half of its population was displaced.

He said that Pakistan has no preference among the hopeful Afghan powers. He added that our only interest is that the future government of Kabul will not allow India to deal with Pakistan from there.

Regarding China, the Prime Minister stated that China has made great progress, lifting 700 million people out of poverty in just 40 years. He said, this is the model I want to follow in Pakistan.

He said that the country is not poor due to insufficient resources. This is because of corruption in the leadership. As we have learned from the Panama Papers, so do Pakistani politicians. Khan said that millions of dollars went into real estate in the most expensive area of London, which was sucked away from the country.

He criticized the opposition, saying that the opposition wants to blackmail him to end the corruption case, but this will never happen. He said that the opposition is united because they fear that if Pakistan stabilizes, they will end up in jail for a large number of corruption cases.
