Karachi: this new type of coronavirus has claimed the lives of two other people in Sindh and infected at least 311 people in the past 24 hours.
In a statement on the daily COVID-19 situation in the province, CM Murad Ali Shah said that in the past 24 hours, two more people have died of COVID-19. He said that 10,9400 samples were tested today and a total of 311 cases of COVID-19 were detected.
The Chief Minister insisted that out of the 311 newly reported cases of the new coronavirus in Karachi, 221 were reported.
Earlier today, after the surge in coronavirus cases, the Sindh health department decided to implement a “micro smart lockdown” in Karachi.
According to detailed information, the provincial health department has asked Karachi’s deputy commissioner and senior police officer to ensure that micro-smart locks are carried out at designated locations and SOPs are implemented.
The health department told the authorities in a letter that it has noticed an increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Karachi.
The letter read: “Therefore, after consulting with health officials in the relevant area, it is required to deploy police forces at designated MSLD sites.”
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that on Tuesday, Sindh Province reported 400 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths.
