Washington: Police said that a shooting occurred at a backyard gathering in Rochester, New York on Saturday, killing two people and injuring fourteen others.
Interim Police Chief Mark Simmons told reporters that officials responding to the shooting in the area found a “chaotic scene” with about 100 people running in all directions.
“We filmed a total of 16 confirmed victims. I am sad to announce that two 16 received fatal injuries,” he said.
He said the victims-a man and a woman-were between 18 and 22 years old and have not been officially confirmed.
He said that the 14 wounded had been taken to the hospital and their lives were not in danger.
So far, no one has been arrested and the police cannot say whether more than one shooter was involved.
Simmons said: “It is unfortunate and shameful that our community has to deal with this tragedy…”
