Lahore: Suspect in murder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Asad Khokhar’s brother has confessed to killing him in “revenge”.
According to the suspect’s preliminary statement, the MP’s brother Malik Mubashar was suspected of participating in the murder of his uncle.
To provide details, he told the police that he arrived at the valima ceremony with a pistol around 8:15 in the morning.
The suspect said that he came out of the marquee by walking behind the Punjab’s chief minister and opened fire on Malik Mubashar when the Punjab chief minister was sitting in his vehicle.
It merits mention that funeral prayer of Asad khokhar’s brother was also offered today.
A day earlier, a gunman opened fire at the wedding ceremony of Asad’s son, killing Mubashir Khokhar alias Malik Goga and injuring another.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar took notice of the incident directed the inspector general of police to submit a report.
A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office stated that Buzdal has ordered an investigation into the security arrangements for the wedding and instructed those responsible for any mistakes discovered to take further action.
“Action should be taken against the arrested suspect in accordance with the law,” the statement said.
