Madrid: The Spanish government said on Tuesday that Spain again set a new record, with 849 people dying from COVID-19 within 24 hours, bringing the total death to 8189.

The death toll increased after a slight decline within a day, which raised hopes that the epidemic could peak. Spain has become the second largest country in the world due to the virus, behind Italy.

In the past 24 hours, another 9,222 people tested positive for the virus and the total number of confirmed cases reached 94,417.
