South Africa postpone T20 tour of Pakistan due to heavy schedule

Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa’s acting CEO Jacques Faul said Friday that South Africa’s decision to postpone a short visit to Pakistan was more of a congestion than a security issue.

After ending the Pakistani Premier League (March 22), the CSA and the Pakistani Cricket Board agreed to postpone a series of plans for three 20 and 20 international players that were originally scheduled for March in Islamabad.

When the PSL comes to an end, South Africa will participate in three one-day international competitions in India, which will end on March 18.

Then various possible South African teams participate in the Indian Super League from March 28.

The Pakistani tour had to be compressed between these events.

“This has been done purely because of the heavy workload and international schedule our players are facing in the immediate future,” said Faul.

“I have assured my counterpart at the PCB, Wasim Khan, that the tour remains very much on our international schedule.”

“I would also like to stress that security was not an issue in asking the PCB for this postponement,” Faul added.

The trip to India will complete a busy South African international program that begins with four tests against England.

The English Tour ends its third T20 international match in Centurion on Sunday, immediately followed by three T20 international matches and three list day international matches against Australia on March 7.

The first one-day race in India was March 12.
