Sindh govt decides to ease lockdown from Monday


Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Friday that the province would relax the blockade on Monday after the federal government decided to end the national blockade in stages starting on Saturday .

He said at a press conference in Karachi on Friday that a decision needs to be made after considering facts and figures, adding that the Federation has implemented 99% of the decision.

The chief minister said that despite the differences, we are working together and added that by opening the blockade, coronavirus cases will surge. He said that the Prime Minister authorized the provinces to decide to blockade the situation and make changes based on the current situation.

Murad Ali Shah urged people to stay at home to avoid coronavirus, and people with diabetes and heart disease should try not to leave their homes.

The chief minister said that Saturday and Sunday will be fully blocked. He said shopping centers, restaurants, large shops, movie theaters and large markets will remain closed, while small markets and shops will be open. “All businesses closed before May 9 will continue to close from Monday.”

He said: “Industries related to the construction industry will operate in accordance with standard operating procedures.”

Sindh CM went on to say that the store will be open from Fajr until 5 pm and the selected outpatient department (OPD) in the hospital will also be open. He said that the provincial government has allowed 660 factories to resume operations as directed by the center.
