Karachi: The Sindh Provincial Government on Monday approved an attempt to use passive immunotherapy to treat patients with coronavirus in the province.
The technology, overseen by hematologist Tahir Shamsi, will also be submitted to other provinces for approval before detailed strategies for the technology are implemented in hospitals across the country.
“With this technology, plasma can be extracted from the plasma of healthy people and injected into the blood of patients with coronavirus,” Shamsi said Monday.
He added, “After the transfer, the injected plasma produces antibodies in the immune systems of patients with coronaviruses. These antibodies will eventually fight the virus.”
