Islamabad: Minister of Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Chinese ambassador Yao Jing discussed the construction of Karachi-Peshawar Route 1 (ML-1) on Friday. Project progress.
“PC-one of 1,872 kilometer rail track from Karachi to Peshawar (ML-1) project has been dispatched to Planning Commission and it would hopefully be approved during the current year,” the minister said during a meeting with the Chinese envoy to Pakistan.
Sheikh Rashid expressed confidence that the ML-1 work will start next year and will be completed soon. “The ML-1 project is the heart of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and is vital to the country’s economic development.”
The Chinese ambassador to Yao said that ML-1 is one of CPEC’s major projects in the next phase and that China will provide all possible means to ensure its timely completion.
He said the Chinese government and railway companies will provide assistance for the development of the railways in Pakistan.
