Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Saturday clarified that PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has not been placed on Exit Control List (ECL) yet.
Sheikh Rashid said in a video statement that the ministry has not yet received the cabinet’s summary. The country must wait until Monday or Tuesday so that the Ministry of the Interior can make a decision in accordance with the law.
The minister said that there are already 14 suspects in the ECL, and five members of the Sharif family have been declared absconded. He added that Shehbaz Sharif must be quarantined in Qatar for 15 days before travelling to the UK.
Earlier, the Cabinet Subcommittee held a special meeting, and all committee members unanimously suggested using the name Shehbaz Sharif in the ECL. The final decision is made by the Federal Cabinet.
