ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has been successfully operated owing to his gallbladder pain at a private hospital.
According to family sources, the leader of the Pakistani Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was transferred to his personal room in the hospital, where he also met his family.
Medical experts decided to leave Abbasi in the hospital until next Friday. The decision regarding his dismissal will be considered after his next medical examination.
On December 24, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, a former prime minister currently in prison in Adiyala for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) scandal, was taken to hospital for a deterioration in health.
According to the details, the doctor informed the prison officer of the status of the former prime minister and asked for his treatment to be arranged.
It should be mentioned here that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is planning to undergo a hernia operation on December 26.
On September 10, 2018, the Supreme Court ordered NAB to complete an investigation into Abbasi and others about alleged corruption in the LNG contract.
As a minister for oil and natural resources, Abbasi has been accused of awarding LNG contracts to favorite companies.
In June 2018, NAB approved an investigation into former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Abbasi, who were former ministers of oil and natural resources.
It has also been found that the contract would have caused billions of rupees to national finances.
In January, NAB interviewed former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail in the same case.
