The Israeli airstrike on Gaza killed 16 Hamas members on Wednesday after retaliating for the Israeli army’s atrocities by launching rockets.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said at least 53 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel escalated its attacks on Monday. On the other hand, medical staff said that 6 people were killed in Israel.

Israel’s Shin Bet security department said the brigade commander in Gaza City was one of the high-ranking Hamas members who were killed.

“This is just the beginning. We’ll hit them like they’ve never dreamed possible,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.

Soon after the announcement, a new rocket barrage was fired at the Israeli city of Ashdod and Israeli media said the military was preparing for new salvoes on the Tel Aviv area.

Hamas confirmed the brigade commander’s death and the loss of “other leaders and warriors” and said in a statement: “Thousands of leaders and soldiers will follow in their footsteps.”.

A Palestinian source said truce efforts by Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations had made no progress to end the tension that flared this week.

In Gaza, a multi-storey residential building collapsed after Israel warned its residents in advance to evacuate, and another building was severely damaged in an air strike.

Other airstrikes mentioned by the Israeli military include rocket launch sites, Hamas offices and the residences of Hamas leaders. Israeli officials say that so far, at least 41 Palestinian fighters have been killed in Gaza.

“Israel has gone crazy,” said a man on a Gaza street, where people ran out of their homes as explosions rocked buildings.

The Gaza Ministry of Health said that 16 people were killed in an Israeli air strike on Gaza on Wednesday. Witnesses and health officials said in Gaza that an Israeli airstrike killed three people in a car, including a woman.
