RAWALPINDI: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday urged the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to participate in public voting during the Senate election, saying that such opportunities rarely happen.
The federal minister talked to the media and said that Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted to end the process of horseback riding and that MPs should have the courage to openly vote for their candidates.
Sheikh Rashid said, “The Senate polls will be held in March which will further strengthen democracy. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) President Fazal-ur-Rehman has calmed down relatively and he should participate in the Senate elections.
“PDM anti-government drive’s last option will either be long march or no-confidence motion. Nothing will happen even of the opposition parties tender resignations.
“Governments are not toppled by political movements. We staged sit-in for 126 days but dialogues are last option in politics. Democracy is strengthened by negotiations and those who keep the doors of talks shut derail democracy.”
