Karachi: Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said on Sunday that according to the decision made at the inter-provincial meeting, Ontario’s schools and universities will also reopen on Monday (December 18).
Said Ghani said in an interview with the media in Karachi that in the first phase, the school will open the ninth, tenth, and eleventh and twelfth courses of the school from Monday.
“In the second phase, the primary and secondary classes will commence from February 01, besides also reopening of colleges and universities from the same date,” he said.
The educational institutes faced closure under extended winter vacations owing to the second wave of COVID-19 in the country.
It is pertinent to mention here that a meeting of education ministers on January 04 decided to reopen educational institutions across the country in a phase-wise manner with classes nine to 12 resuming in the first phase on January 18.
Federal Minister of Education Shafqat Mahmood said at a press conference after the meeting that classes 1 to 8 of the second phase will resume on January 25, while universities and other higher education institutions will resume on campus starting on February 1.
He said that after the winter vacation, teachers and administrative staff can return to school from January 11.
Shafqat Mahmood said that the board examinations originally scheduled for March and April will now be held in May and June because the children have not yet completed the courses and need time to prepare.
