ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday has directed to verify the degrees of employees working in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
At the hearing, claimants claimed that officials had obtained degrees and had not even attended the private university of Azad Kashmir.
In response to these arguments, the court apparently stated that the degrees seemed to have been awarded through an illegal procedure.
The Supreme Court subsequently postponed the hearing by one month and ordered a diplomatic check.
Previously, PIA fired 50 crew members and 3 pilots for obtaining a fake diploma. An airline spokesman said the move was being carried out in accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Court.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has submitted an interim report to the Commission.
The Supreme Court has also instructed the authorities to complete the degree verification process and to submit a final report on the issue
