Moscow: The second highest number of Russian coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 300,000 on Wednesday, but a representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) said the situation began to stabilize.

8,764 new coronavirus infections in Russia brought the country’s total to 308,705. But the daily increase is the lowest since May 1.

Although the death rate in Russia is still much lower than in many other countries, only the United States reported more cases than Russia, and some critics and relatives of the deceased questioned this.

Russia stated that its method of calculating the number of deaths is more accurate than other countries and defended its own practices.

The country ’s Coronavirus Response Center said the total number of deaths rose to 2,972 on Wednesday, with 135 deaths reported in the past 24 hours.

TASS News Agency quoted her as saying that Dr. Melita Voinovich, the representative of the World Health Organization Russia, said on Wednesday that she believed the situation had entered a stable stage.

In Russia, which is locked for the eighth week, Moscow is the hardest-hit region. Unless they obtain a digital pass for certain trips, citizens will remain largely confined to their homes.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Tuesday that it was too early to consider letting people go for a walk or exercise.
