Daska by-polls: SC once again rejects request to declare ECP order illegal

PTI challenges ECP’s decision of NA-75 re-polling in SC

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has Friday challenged the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision of re-polling in NA-75 Daska in the Supreme Court.

PTI candidate Ali Asjad Malhi has joined others in the petition to form his opponent Nosheen Iftikhar party and insisted that the ECP did not follow the rules and regulations when issuing re-election orders throughout the electoral district.

Ali Asjad Malhi said the ECP verdict violates Article 10-A, and requested the apex court to issue results of the by-election after nullifying the ECP decision.

It is pertinent here to mention that the ECP had nullified by-election in NA-75 Daska and ordered to conduct re-polling in the entire constituency on March 18.

The Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja announced when he retained the ruling that the polls in the constituency were unfair and transparent. He added that the security situation has been destroyed and an environment of fear has been created among the locals.
