Karachi: The 12th game of the 6th Pakistan Premier League (PSL) between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators has been rescheduled because the players of the team have been infected with the coronavirus.
This was onfirmed in latest PCB tweet saying, “Quetta Gladiators-Islamabad United match rescheduled for Tuesday, 2 March, at 7pm PKT. More details to follow shortly.”
Although both sides returned to the negative test late on Monday afternoon, the decision was still made. Prior to this, Fawad Ahmed of the Islamabad joint test resumed the positive test earlier today. Favard was quarantined late on Saturday night. After two negative tests, he will re-enter the biosafety foam.
The decision to reschedule the game time was made after careful consideration. The purpose is to allow the players enough time to fully relax after the test, refocus and regroup, and is in the best interest of the game.
While all squad members of Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United have tested negative, players and player support personnel of the four remaining sides and the match officials will undergo rapid tests on Monday evening.
The tickets for Monday’s match will be valid on Tuesday, while the unused tickets can be refunded.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in its latest tweet said, “A player from one of the sides featuring in this evening’s match has tested positive. The player had showed symptoms two days ago and had been immediately isolated. Members of his side have tested negative while the players of the other side are being tested.”
