Prolonged loadshedding adds to Karachi’s woes amid summer heat

Prolonged power outages hit several areas of Karachi on Wednesday, adding to the citizens’ woes amid rising temperatures.

Areas that are exempt from load-shedding have also been hit, including Tariq Bin Ziyad Housing Society, Shah Faisal Town, Karachi Admin Society, Saadi Town, and PECHS Block 2 — which are facing outages since 9am.

According to reports, since 8 am, the electricity in the H district of North Nazimabad has also been cut off.

Geo News quoted citizens as reporting that the electricity supply to Drigh Road in Cantt Bazar was cut off at 5:30 am. However, despite multiple complaints, at the time of submission of this report, electricity in the area had not been restored.

At the same time, citizens protested against load shedding near the Nazmabad Gol market and chanted slogans against K-Electric. Protesters said the electricity supplier had cut off the electricity supply in the area since the past two days.

In response, KE stated that the power supply in the high loss area was cut off for 7 and a half to 10 hours.

KE said that the duration of load shedding in other parts of the city has not increased.

The power company said that due to ongoing maintenance work, some areas of North Nazmabad have experienced power outages.
