Gilgit: Gilgit-Baltistan’s hyped election preparations have entered the final stage, because today is the last day of election activities.
Political parties are working hard to win the support of voters. Tough competition is expected in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections between ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
PPP has selected candidates from all 23 seats, while 21 candidates from PTI and PML-N will run for their respective districts.
Four female candidates will also participate in the election.
The distribution of election materials is in progress, and staff have been deployed at polling stations.
Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said he is committed to holding fair and transparent elections.
He said that stupid security arrangements have been made and a postal vote check will be conducted in front of the candidates.
