PPP announces to challenge ordinance on SBP


Jaqababad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced in court on Friday that he questioned the decree concerning the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), saying that if the central bank operates as required, it will be an attack on national sovereignty . International Monetary Fund (IMF).

In an interview with the media in Jacobbad on Friday, he said that the government is handing over its national institutions to other agencies and also announced the real cause of the economic crisis in the current government.

“There is historic unemployment in the country due to PTI-IMF deal, he said and added two finance ministers have been changed during the past three years.

Alleging the government of handing over the country to the IMF, the PPP chairman said that it will be an attack on national sovereignty, if the central bank is operated at the behest of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and his party will challenge the ordinance on the central bank in the court.

Bilawal went on to say that the 2018 elections were held across the country and are still ongoing, and have tried to elect a representative, adding that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should play a role in the process of rigging elections. The committee should ensure the transparency of national elections like Dascar’s.

He further added that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and other institutions are being used against the opposition, adding that the PPP holds the same position on NAB, but other political parties have changed their policies on anti-corruption gatekeepers based on the situation. He added: “The National Bank and the economy cannot go hand in hand.”
