Police say 2 people were killed and 3 were injured in US shooting

Caldwell, Idaho: The Idaho police said at least two people were killed and three were injured in a shooting at an elderly apartment building in Caldwell.

Caldwell police chief Frank Wyant said the shootings at Portstewart Apartments were reported around 4:19 PM. Respondents found several victims on site on Thursday. A police officer was among the wounded and the suspect in the case was among the dead.

Police say there is no constant threat to the public.

The officer’s injuries were considered life-threatening. It is unclear whether the wounded and dead lived in the complex in the shooting.

“We are still in the early stages of the investigation and the information is very preliminary,” said Caldwell police lieutenant Joey Hoadley.

Caldwell is part of the Boise Metropolitan Area and has a population of around 54,000.
