PML-N, PPP calls for a revision of the NAB law: Shah Qureshi

Means to suspend amendment submitted to SC

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) received an application on Saturday for state responsibility (amendment) regulations 2019 issued by a presidential decree passed on Friday by the government of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) that regulates accountability Significant changes have been introduced into the law, the 1999 state responsibility regulations.

The application requires the Supreme Court to order an immediate suspension of the implementation of the state responsibility (amendment) regulations 2019, while claiming that the amendment violates Article 25 of the Constitution and seeks to protect corruption by ministers and government officials.

According to the amendment, NAB can now only accept cases involving corruption or corrupt practices that exceed Rs 500 crore, and will not take action against government employees if the department is defective.
