After the polling time for the ballots ended at 5 pm, the counting of votes was in progress, and the results of the by-election in Khushab City, Sargodha District, Punjab, had begun to circulate.
Based on the unofficial results of 46 out of 229 polling stations, Moazzam Sher Kallu of PML-N was in the lead, while Ali Hussain Khan Baloch of PTI was in second place.
The report indicated that the voter turnout rate was satisfactory.
The seat fell vacant after the death of PML-N MPA Malik Muhammad Waris Kallu, who died on March 12 from COVID-19.
The government by way of preparations, formed 10 teams that will monitor the electoral process all the way to the announcement of the results.
PML-N, PTI and PPP participated in the voting, and there were a total of eight candidates.
As polling was underway, a clash was reported between workers of the PTI and PML-N at a polling station established at Jamali Balochan Girls High School. The verbal duel reportedly ensued after some workers were stopped from polling.
