ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the spokespersons of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan is underway in Islamabad.
According to sources, the meeting will discuss strategy to deal with opposition’s protest and review foreign funding case. Participants will also be briefed by legal team on Supreme Court’s verdict in Army Chief’s tenure extension case.
Sources told that the Prime Minister will take spokespersons into confidence on various matters and issue directives regarding the government’s point of view. The current political and economic situation will also come under discussion.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had granted an extension in tenure for 6 months to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Bajwa. The decision was announced by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, and comprising Justice Mazhar Alam and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah.
Leaving the matter on the government and parliament, the apex court had instructed that a legislation on this matter should be passed within six months.
