Pakistan reports 5,395 COVID-19 cases, highest in over 9 months


Pakistan has reported 118 deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, and the number of positive cases has soared to 739,818. The death toll across the country jumped to 15,872 on Thursday.

According to the latest data from the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 5,395 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Provincial details

In terms of death toll, Punjab province remains the most affected province, followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Till now 7,209 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 4,533 in Sindh, 2,761 in KP, 625 in Islamabad, 420 in Azad Kashmir, 221 in Balochistan, and 103 in GB.

Furthermore 270,310 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 258,441 in Punjab, 102,290 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 68,066 in Islamabad, 20,580 in Balochistan, 14,978 in Azad Kashmir and 5,153 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

So far, Pakistan has conducted 10,942,771 coronavirus tests and 64,685 tests in the past 24 hours. The country has recovered 646,652 coronavirus patients, while 4,276 patients are in critical condition.
