Pakistan reports 53 deaths by coronavirus, 1,302 new cases in 24 hours


Lahore: Pakistan has reported 53 new coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours, and the number of positive cases has soared to 551,842. Last Friday, the number of deaths across the country jumped to 11,886.

According to the latest data from the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 1,302 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Provincial details

In terms of cases, Sindh remains the province most affected by the pandemic, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Punjab province is reported to have the highest number of casualties.

Till now 249,498 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 159,705 in Punjab, 68,004 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,844 in Balochistan, 41,734 in Islamabad, 9,144 in Azad Kashmir and 4,913 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore 4,840 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 4,059 in Sindh, 1,941 in KP, 196 in Balochistan, 478 in Islamabad, 270 in Azad Kashmir and 102 in GB.

Pakistan has so far conducted 8,122,447 coronavirus tests and 37,020 tests in the past 24 hours. The country has recovered 507,502 coronavirus patients, while 1,903 patients are in critical condition.
