Pakistan registers deadliest day of coronavirus pandemic with 78 new deaths

Lahore: Pakistan confirmed that 78 people died of the new coronavirus within a day because the number of deaths nationwide jumped to 1,395 and the number of positive cases surged to 66,457.

According to the latest data from the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 2429 people were tested positive for COVID-19 within 24 hours.

Provincial details

Sindh remains the province most affected by the pandemic, followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

To date, 26,113 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh province, 24,104 cases have been confirmed in Punjab province, 9,067 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 4,087 cases in Balluchi province, 2,192 cases in Islamabad, Gilgit- There were 660 cases in Baltistan and 234 cases in Azad Kashmir.

In addition, 445 people were killed by epidemics in KP, Punjab 439, Sindh 427, Luchistan 46, Islamabad 23 and GB 9.

The quarantine centers of 462 hospitals are providing treatment for patients, where 7,295 beds can be provided.

Testing and recovery

Pakistan has so far conducted 532,037 coronavirus tests and 12,020 tests in the past 24 hours. The country has recovered 24,131 coronavirus patients, but many patients are in critical condition.
