Islamabad: Another Pakistan Air Force (PAF) special plane carrying 500,000 doses of China’s Covid-19 vaccine arrived in Pakistan on Saturday.
A special plane loaded with vaccines arrived at Nur Khan Air Force Base in Islamabad. This is the eighth batch of Covid-19 vaccine shipped from China.
China had previously donated 1.5 million doses of vaccine to Islamabad.
Separately in another development, three Pakistan Internationa Airlines (PIA) planes have left for China Saturday to bring 1 million more vaccine doses.
On Thursday, Pakistan received another batch of 500,000 doses of SinoVac coronavirus vaccine from China.
Pakistan reached an agreement to purchase China’s CoronaVac vaccine on April 18.
Coronavac vaccine has been prepared by the Sinovac Life Sciences of China. The firm has assured providing the vaccine according to the needs of Pakistan, sources said.
CoronaVac, inactivated vaccine, comprises of two doses and stored at minus-two to eight degree Celsius temperature, sources said. China had allowed emergency use of the CoronaVac in July 2020
According to sources, Pakistan will receive two million doses of COVID vaccine from China by April 24.
Of the 2 million doses, 1.5 million doses were purchased from China, and 500,000 doses were provided as gifts from friendly neighboring countries.
The dose includes 1.5 million Chinese medicines for vaccines and 500,000 needles for Chinese medicines.
What needs to be mentioned here is that Pakistan has begun to vaccinate the elderly over 50 and health professionals.
