Islamabad: The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated that Pakistan is using its utmost sincerity to make reconciliation efforts for peace and stability in the region, including the Afghanistan peace process.
He said this during the telephonic conversation with his Finnish counterpart Pekka Haavisto today.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has been saying from the first day that an acceptable dialogue among Afghan leaders among the Afghan people It is the only way to solve the problem in Afghanistan.
He said that the intra-Afghan dialogue in Doha augurs well for the realization of peace in Afghanistan, and the Afghan leaders should use this opportunity to bring these negotiations to a logical conclusion.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi informed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan about the Afghan leaders Abdullah Abdullah, Gulbadin Hikmatyar and Afghan Velo Si Gilga’s visit to Pakistan and the active discussions during the visit.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that the upcoming meeting in Finland, in cooperation with the United Nations and Afghanistan, in Geneva at the end of this month is essential to the lasting peace and stability of Afghanistan.
He thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland for inviting him to attend the conference on Afghanistan. He expressed the hope that the glorious strategy of repatriating Afghan refugees from Pakistan will also be discussed.
The two foreign ministers also agreed to continue bilateral consultations on peace and stability in the region, including the Afghanistan peace process.
