The Pakistani military received a second batch of COVID-19 vaccines from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), China Military Online reported Friday.

Pakistan Army received the first batch of the vaccine from the Chinese PLA on February 8, becoming the first foreign military to get the COVID-19 vaccine from the Chinese military.

According to China Military Online, the vaccine was approved by the Central Military Commission and provided at the request of the Pakistani military.

At the same time, the first batch of Chinese CanSino COVID-19 vaccines purchased in bulk by the Pakistani government also arrived in Pakistan a few days ago.

The company told Xinhua News Agency that this bulk vaccine will now help Pakistan manufacture this vaccine locally to support Pakistan’s fight against COVID-19.

The CanSino vaccine has undergone a third phase trial in Pakistan. This is the second Chinese COVID-19 vaccine approved for emergency use in the country by Pakistan.

Currently, Pakistan is facing the third wave of COVID-19, and the positive rate has risen sharply, forcing the authorities to continue to tighten anti-pandemic measures and promote vaccination.
