Pakistan announces contribution of $25,000 for UN peace fund

Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mohamed Qureshi announced a donation of US$25,000 to the Secretary-General’s Peace Building Fund.

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, while speaking in a virtual High Level Replenishment Conference for UN Secretary General’s Peace-building Fund, said that the pledge underscores Pakistan’s longstanding political, human and financial commitment to UN’s endeavors in peacekeeping and peace-building.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to multilateral cooperation to maintain peace, prevent conflicts and achieve sustainable development goals.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan is an important troop and police contributor and is proud of the UN’s rich history of peacekeeping.

He said that in the past 60 years, Pakistani peacekeepers have represented the blue flag in 46 UN missions on four continents.
