Islamabad: Among the countries that Pakistan imported different products in the first 11 months (2020-21 fiscal year), China ranked first, followed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Singapore.
The total imports from China from July to May (2020-21) were US$11,145.962 million, and from July to May (2019-20) were US$8.25599 billion, an increase of 38.74% over the same period, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said.
Followed by the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan imported goods valued at US$6.199069 billion. Last year’s imports were US$59,976.483 million, an increase of 3.72%.
According to SBP data, Singapore is the third country in Pakistan’s imports of US$2.148135 billion last year, with a value of US$2.769481 billion, an increase of 28.92%.
Among other countries, Pakistan imported US$2.198657 billion from the United States, which was US$2.039 billion in the same period last year, an increase of 7.83%; it imported US$2.106018 billion from Saudi Arabia, which was US$1.25081 billion in the same period last year, an increase of 7.83%. 68.37%, the data shows.
The value of imports from Kuwait was US$ 1,167,003 million, compared with US$ 984,636 million last year, and the value of imports from Malaysia was US$1,094,86 million, compared with US$ 86,341 million last year.
From July to May, imports from South Korea were US$1.183695 billion and US$672884 million, imports from Japan were US$1.372124 million and US$972.55 million, and imports from Switzerland were US$1,010711 million and US$566922.3 million.
Similarly, the value of imports from Germany during the review period were US$1,0180.8 million and US$868,437 million, respectively, while the value of imports from Thailand was US$961,741 million and US$675,015 million.
Pakistan’s imports from Qatar this fiscal year amounted to 1,129.56 million U.S. dollars, compared with 1,542.071 million U.S. dollars last year, while imports from the United Kingdom were 6,82.09 million U.S. dollars, compared to 62.28 million U.S. dollars last year.
