On Sunday, a residential building in the Liaquat colony of Lyari collapsed, killing at least one person and injuring three others.
Eddie officials said the body and injured person had been taken to a civilian hospital, and rescue operations were in progress to bury people under the rubble.
The city’s SSP Muqaddas Haider said a body and three injured persons had been pulled from the rubble.
He said that because the building was dilapidated and residents had been notified, many families moved out of the apartment.
He said that on Sunday morning, a large crack appeared in the building because several people evacuated their apartment. He added that it is not yet possible to tell how many people were killed in the incident.
The Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah, also noticed the incident and directed Commissioner Karachi to start the rescue operation.
The Chief Minister instructed the relevant officials to carry out necessary rescue work and submitted an investigation report on the incident.
