No handshaking or hugs: NCOC issues guidelines for Eid prayers


Islamabad: The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) issued health guidelines on Tuesday, directing Aidul Fitel to pray to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

According to NCOC, Eid al-Fitr prayers should be conducted in open spaces under the Covid-19 agreement. If praying indoors, the doors and windows of the mosque should be kept open to maintain adequate ventilation.

To avoid crowding, more gatherings should be held at the same time.

NCOC stated that Eid al-Fitr sermons should be short and comprehensive, and minors under 15 years of age, the elderly and people with certain diseases are not allowed to participate in group prayers.

It has made mask wearing mandatory for every worshiper who have been advised to bring their own prayer mats.

The NCOC said the places where Eid prayers will be offered should have multiple entry and exit points with effective thermal scanners. Six-feet distance between rows of worshipers be ensured and they should avoid handshaking or hugs after Eid prayers.

It emphasized the need to strictly implement SOPs to curb the spread of coronavirus.
