Karachi: On Monday, nine people in Karachi tested positive for deadly corona virus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 16.
The Sindh Health Board confirmed nine new cases of corona virus in Karachi, bringing the number of patients in the province to 13. One patient has been successfully recovered and sent home while another 12 is still being treated.
According to the source, six people infected with the corona virus in Karachi arrived from Syria via Syria via Doha, and three others arrived in Dubai from London via London.
Dr. Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the National Health Services Prime Minister, said Monday on his official Twitter that after Karachi reported nine more cases, the number of patients with coronavirus reached 16.
Zafar Mirza said that new patients who have been tested positive for the mysterious disease remain in contact with patients who have been confirmed to be positive for the disease.
He further said that everyone who was in contact with patients with a coronavirus infection was being followed.
The virus first appeared in December of last year in Wuhan, China. The number of new coronavirus cases in 113 countries and regions worldwide was 114,268, of which 4,009 died.
After the outbreak spread to stock markets in sub-Saharan Africa and around the world, the World Health Organization raised the global virus risk to the highest level last week.
