Shahid Khaqan Abbasi alleges NAB of causing irreparable damage to country

NAB wants to silence Maryam Nawaz, says Shahid Khaqan

Islamabad: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former prime minister and senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stated that the National Bank wanted to keep Marian Nawaz silent. He said the case of Maryam Nawaz being released on bail was not even mentioned in the petition.

Talking to media along with PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that NAB tried to intimidate Maryam Nawaz. Maryam Nawaz was accused of paralyzing NAB adding that Maryam’s vehicle was attacked and smashed by police when she was on her way to NAB office.

He said when no evidence was found against Maryam, such a petition was filed. There is no such precedent in legal history. The court will fine NAB on this frivolous petition. The purpose of this petition is to waste court time.

He alleged that NAB today is forced to do politics and is a front line player. Musharraf also tried to do politics through NAB.

He said the only purpose of NAB is to suppress politicians and destroy votes. Accountability institutions will also take responsibility. Since the first day, I have been saying that without accountability for these institutions, the connection between the National Bank and the government will not work.

Referring to the Senate elections, the former Prime Minister said that the instructions to mark the vote were given by the Senate. He said it does not matter where you stamp on the ballot paper, vote remains legitimate.
