Opposition decides to bring no-confidence motion against NA Speaker Asad Qaiser

NA Speaker rejects allegations over number of votes secured by PM in confidence vote


Islamabad: Speaker of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, firmly opposes the opposition’s allegations regarding Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vote of confidence.

Talking to media persons, Asad Qaiser said he would resign if it is proven that there was some issue with even a single vote. He stressed that politicians have to promote democratic norms and should not lose the moral ground.

The Speaker said he will approach every Senator for support in Senate Chairman polls. He while stressing on independence of media, said that free press is the basic requirement for democracy and assured to provide  necessary facilities to journalists.

On the occasions, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani has said that he will approach every political party as part of his election campaign for reelection to the seat of Chairman of the Upper House.

He said that no matter who wins the election for the chairman of the Senate, our main focus should remain on strengthening parliament and democracy.
