Islamabad: Pakistan’s Meteorological Department stated that Karachi and other parts of the country are expected to receive more rainfall during the monsoon season.
PMD stated in a consultation report that the rainy season this year is expected to be between June 27th and 30th.
Rainfall may also be higher than normal in the upper half of Punjab, northern Balochistan and Kashmir.
PMD stated that during the monsoon season, in addition to urban floods in the main plains of Punjab, Sindh, and KP, flash floods occurred in Punjab, Azad, Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. .
It stated that due to extreme hydrometeorological events in the basin, river flooding may occur.
The consultation further pointed out that higher than normal temperatures in high-altitude areas may increase the snowmelt rate in the northern region, thereby increasing the chance of base flow in the Upper Indus Basin.
PMD stated that, on the other hand, the positive impact will be sufficient water for irrigation and power sectors.
