Money Laundering worth billions of rupees was done in the past


Islamabad: Chief Justice Javed Iqbal, chairman of the National Accountability Bureau, stated that money laundering not just a single penny but billions of rupees was done in the past.

He said billions of rupees laundering have caused poverty, suffering and a lack of medical and educational facilities in the country.

In the Madaraba case, naive and innocent people were robbed in the name of Islamic investment. By giving people greed for huge Shariah profits, their life savings were looted.

The chairman of the National Bank said the Madarabah case is the largest robbery in the history of the country. Mufti Ehsan and his associates were sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of 10 billion rupees.

He said that at the Constituent Assembly, Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali Kinner identified bribery and nepotism as the main issues. Corruption is the root of all evil.

Judge Javed Iqbal said white collar crime is different from street crime.

NAB is an important organization under the United Nations Convention against Corruption. He added that NAB is also the chair of the SAARC Anti-Corruption Forum.

NAB is a role model for SAARC countries. The World Economic Forum, Transparency International Pakistan, PILDAT and Mashal Pakistan have praised the NAB s efforts to eradicate corruption.

He said that since its inception, NAB has deposited 714 billion rupees into the Treasury Department, which is a significant achievement for NAB.
