Islamabad: Authorities confirmed on Friday that a man committed suicide after a fire outside the Prime Minister’s palace and also found a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The man, a resident of the Pirwadhai area of Murree, set himself on fire outside PM House 2 and was taken to PIMS hospital in an emergency. However, he succumbed to burns.
According to the letter, the man called for an investigation into a politician named Javad Abbas. The man said in the letter that he had been charged with a box containing 20 liters of alcohol.
On the other hand, Rawalpindi police stated that the man was booked on September 19, 2019, in an attempt to rape an underage girl. She added that there was no alcohol case against him at Pirwadhai police station.
Prime Minister Imran took note of the incident in this regard and ordered Islamabad chief of police, Amir Ali Ahmed, to immediately initiate a judicial inquiry into the matter.
Ahmed said the magistrate will complete the investigation within 48 hours and the judicial investigation report will be presented to the prime minister.
