RAWALPINDI: Sons and daughter-in-laws of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Wednesday have appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi.
According to details, Abdullah Shahid Khaqan and Haider Shahid Khaqan along with their wives reached NAB office to record testimonies in liquefied natural gas (LNG) case.
Earlier,accountability court had extended judicial remand of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and ex-finance minister Miftah Ismail till December 3 in the same case.
It should be mentioned here that on 10 September 2018 the Supreme Court ordered NAB to investigate the alleged corruption of Abbasi and others with regard to LNG contracts.
As a minister of petroleum and natural resources, he was accused of granting LNG terminal contracts to ETPL, tripartite agreements, CSRs with EETPL and LNG import from Qatar.
In June 2018, NAB approved an investigation into former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Abbasi, who at the time was the then minister of petroleum and natural resources, who had awarded the contract for the LNG receiving station. Has been his “favorite” company for 15 years.
It was also found that the contract would have caused billions of rupees for national finances.
In January, NAB interviewed former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail in the same case.
According to the NAB document, the LNG import and distribution contract was awarded in 2013 to Engro’s subsidiary Elengy Terminal, in violation of the rules of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) and related laws.
