Lahore: Supreme Court of Lahore will today (Tuesday) announce a verdict in the petition for bail by Rana Sanaullah, former minister of Punjab, who deals with drug recovery from his vehicle cases.
LHC judge Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed heard defenders Zahid Hussain Bukhari Monday Ahsan Bhawan and Azam Nazir Tarrar represent Rana Sanaullah and Muhammad Irfan Malik, prosecutor of the Anti-Drug Force (ANF) verdict. The court will announce its decision today at 2 p.m.
Rana Sanaullah said earlier in his bail request that he had been arrested in a fake drug trafficking case for criticizing the government. He took the position that he was registered as smuggling 21 kilograms of heroin in the International Intelligence Area and that the weight of the drug that was subsequently arrested was declared 15 kilograms.
On December 21, Justice of the Narcotics Court Shakir Hussain extended the pre-trial detention of PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah in the heroin recovery case until January 4.
The court also issued a message to investigators who wanted an answer to Rana Sanaullah’s request for a ministerial video.
Sanaullah was arrested by ANF on July 1 after finding a pile of contraband in a vehicle near the Sukheke area in Punjab. Sanaullah, a member of the National Assembly (MNA) and the president of PML-N Punjab, travels with his guards at a conference from Faisalabad to Lahore’s arrest.
After discovering a large number of contraband in his vehicle, a lawsuit was filed under the Narcotics Control Act 1997.
