Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to complete its investigation of assets other than the Chowdhury brothers’ property within four weeks.
The LHC conducted hearing on Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s petition challenging the NAB chairman’s authority.
NAB Lahore DG Shahzad Saleem told the court that the illegal appointment case against the Chaudhry brothers has been closed, but the financially strong assets are still under trial. He said that the investigation will be completed within six months.
Judge Sadaqat Ali pointed out how anti-corruption regulators started investigating people who have declared assets. The court subsequently ordered the anti-corruption agency to complete its investigation of Chowdhury’s assets within four weeks.
