LHC hears request to unconditionally remove the name of Nawaz Sharif from ECL

By

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) held a hearing on Monday requesting the unconditional removal of the name of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from the exit checklist (ECL).

The two-part bank, chaired by Lord Tariq Abbasi, heard the case.

In the course of the trial, the plaintiff said that the Islamic Court of Islamabad (IHC) has released bail to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for medical reasons. However, the lawyer said that the name of Nawaz was conditionally excluded from the ECL.

He also asked the court to unconditionally subtract the former prime minister’s name from the no-fly list.

In November 2019, the LHC ordered the removal of Nawaz’s name from the ECL and allowed him to travel abroad for four weeks.

It can be mentioned that the federal government has paid a rupee of Rs 7 crore for the conditions for Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for treatment. The government also allows Sharif, who is on sick leave, to be treated in London for four weeks.

Nawaz was imprisoned after the court found him guilty in the Al Azizia corruption case and IHC released him on humanitarian grounds. He also received bail from the Chaudhry sugar mill of the Large Hadron Collider, a suspect.
