Jahangir Tareen’s sugar mills challenge FBR audit notice in LHC

By

Lahore: The leader of the sugar factory separated from Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Jahangir Tareen challenged the Federal Revenue Service (FBR) audit notice in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

After the preliminary hearing, the High Court prohibited the Federal Revenue Service (FBR) from taking action on the notice and issued a notice to the tax collection agency.

The petition stated that the FBR issued a notice on May 21, requesting an audit of the factory’s accounts and seeking records and documents related to income tax.

The petitioner argued that FBR does not have the right to audit the accounts five years ago, and requested the High Court to declare the audit notice invalid and restrict the tax authorities from taking any punitive measures against the factory.
