JEDDAH: An Iranian member of parliament died on Saturday after becoming infected with coronavirus, one of nine new fatalities.
Iran currently has 43 deaths, the highest death toll outside of China, and the total number of infections has risen to 593.
The outbreak forced the regime to close parliament and impose internal travel bans. Several people, including the vice president, vice minister of health and five MPs, were positive about the virus.
Tehran also ordered school closures until Tuesday and extended the prohibition on colleges and prohibitions on concerts and sporting events by one week. Authorities also prohibit visits to hospitals and nursing homes.
