Islamabad: With the approval of the Federal Cabinet, the Ministry of the Interior has banned Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a notice in this regard.
Earlier, the Federal Cabinet approved the summary from Interior Ministry seeking a ban on the Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan under the anti-terrorism law.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had already given approval to the summary following days of violence across the country in which at least two policemen lost their lives and scores were injured.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said Thursday that another summary for the dissolution of TLP will soon be submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to the decision of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will cancel the notification of the religious party.
